Love Manteca needs volunteers for April 30 effort

Love Manteca volunteers in a previous year work on sprucing up East Union Cemetery.

Organizers of Love Manteca are looking for some helping hands.

The annual event featuring community service projects is Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Needed are a few hundred people to come out and make a difference, according to Jim Todd of Crossroads Grace Church / Love Ripon.

He listed 12 projects that are in need of volunteers, including three city parks in need of playground bark, three plazas, four Hope Ministry shelter sites, East Union Cemetery, and red curb painting.

“Most of those sites are suitable for children,” Todd noted.

Other places in need of sprucing up includes areas along the Tidewater Bike Trail, Lincoln Park playground, and several fire hydrants in need of painting.

Registration is necessary for those looking to get involved.

Todd added that there will not be a rally ahead of time – rather, participants will go directly to the project site as listed online.

Volunteers will receive free Love Manteca shirts made possible by sponsors such as Raymus Homes, RJ Flooring, Calvary Community Church’s Living Well Ministry, and Crossroads Grace Church.

The forecast for that day calls for clear skies, Todd said.
