The Manteca Police Officers Association has endorsed Mayor Steve DeBrum, council member Mike Morowit and council candidates Jose Nuno and Dave Breitenbucher on the upcoming Nov. 6 election.

It mirrors an earlier endorsement by Manteca Firefighters Local 1874 of the same four individuals.

There are two council seats as well as the mayor’s post on the ballot. Also running for mayor is Ben Cantu while Chris Silva is the fourth council hopeful.

MPOA President Stephen Schluer said the 64 members who serve Manteca were impressed by the knowledge of the four candidates they endorsed when it comes to the issues facing the community and their commitment to addressing the safety needs of Manteca residents.

“During the last four years Mayor DeBrum and Councilman Morowit have pushed to hire more police officers and provided the resources we need to keep our community safe,” Schluer said. “We strongly support their vision and leadership.  Council candidates Jose Nuno and Dave Breitenbucher have also exhibited the knowledge and understanding of the many challenges faced by Manteca law enforcement.”

DeBrum is seeking a second term in office as mayor and has served on the council for 15 years.

Morowit received the endorsement of the MPOA organization in his successful run for office for years ago.  Nuno is a Manteca Planning Commission member and housing advocate. Breitenbucher is a retired firefighter who serves on the Manteca Parks & Recreation Commission.
