MANTECA’S 14th CAR WASH
City reviewing permit for site on Phoenix Dr.
car wash site
The city’s 14th car wash will be built on the southwest corner of Phoenix Drive and Commerce Avenue.

Building plans for Manteca’s 14th car was are now being reviewed by the city.

The Rise & Shine car wash costing $1.15 million will be built at 1350 Phoenix Drive next to a 10-acre storm retention basin in Spreckles Park at the corner of Commerce Avenue across from the rear of Staples.

The car wash building will be 4,937 square feet. The developer in plans submitted to the city will have three pay lanes plus 37 parking stalls that they intend to also have vacuum set ups for at least 24 spaces.

Customers would enter from Commerce Court and exit onto Phoenix Drive. The carwash is being pursued by Highwalll Development of Manteca with Gubir Singh shepherding the project.

Manteca’s 13th car wash just opened as part of an ARCO AM/PM gas station and convenience store at Crestwood Avenue and Lathrop Road.

Manteca for the first eight months of 2020 has issued $212 million worth of permits for new private sector construction. That means Manteca will easily surpass $228 million in new construction by the time this year ends.

The $228 million mark — the third highest on record — was set in 2017.

The city issued 3,655 building permits valued at $444.9 million in 2019 for the second most robust building year on record. That compared to the record year of $446.8 million in 2018. Both 2018 and 2019 were when permits for the $180 million Great Wolf resort opening next month were processed by the city.

The August building activity reached $33.1 million thanks in part to 66 single family home starts.
