A Manteca man led detectives on a high-speed chase through the streets of Manteca and Ripon on Thursday afternoon before escaping.

Joshua Michael Silver, 29, is wanted by the Manteca Police Department for charges of felony pursuit, assault with a deadly weapon, and hit and run – all of which stem from the incident that occurred just after 3 p.m.

According to a statement from the Manteca Police, detectives from the Street Crime Unit and the San Joaquin County Delta Regional Auto Theft Task Force (RATT) were watching a home in the Powers Tract area sandwiched between Manteca High and Spreckels Park when Silver and an unidentified female left the residence and got behind the wheel of a small vehicle.

When Manteca detectives pulled in front of the vehicle with their lights on and Delta RATT officers boxed him in from behind in an attempt to cut him off, Silver allegedly maneuvered the car from between the two units and accelerated away. He led officers onto southbound Highway 99 and into Ripon where the pursuit was ultimately terminated due to traffic, pedestrians, the time of day, and the suspects dangerous and evasive driving.

Anybody with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Manteca Police Department at 209.239.8401, and officers urge the public not to try to apprehend him.
