Roy West, 49, of Ripon was arrested by Ripon Police Thursday night on multiple charges of alleged sexual abuse of a child under 10 years of age and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and multiple charges of possession of child pornography images.

Ripon officers served a search warrant on West’s home at about 8:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Van Dyken Way.  West was located in the garage of his home when police arrived.  Based on evidence police recovered during the search and related statements West was transported to the police department.

He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.  He is being charged with five felonies and is scheduled to appear in the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court Monday, March 4, at 1:25 p.m.  Bail has been set at $4.5 million.

West has reportedly been known to participate in youth sports as a coach and police are encouraging parents who have had their children participate on teams or whose children may have been associated with West to speak to their children about inappropriate adult behavior.  Police are urging parents to contact officer Gordon West or Detective Richard Francis with any further information their children may divulge about West’s behavior around them or their friends.
