Ripon may alter Rage Volleyball Club lease

Not too long ago, the Rage Volleyball Club signed a 10-year lease for use and the operation of the Mistlin Indoor Sports Facility.

The lease was good from Nov. 1, 2019 to Oct. 31, 2029.

At tonight’s Ripon City Council meeting, Recreation Director Kye Stevens has a report on agenda calling for Rage VBC request for the City of Ripon amend and restate the lease to be renewable on a yearly basis.

“This will help with certain tax obligations that are associated with a long-term lease,” he said.

Stevens added that the changes would have no significant disadvantage to the City and would allow Rage VBC to be in a better position to meet any obligations of leasing and operating of Mistlin Indoor Sports Facility.

The 6 p.m. open session in the Council Chamber will be open to the public. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all those attending must abide by CDC protocol for social distancing.

Occupancy will be limited to the first 25 people.

Other agenda items include:

  • Council members could approve and authorize Mayor Jake Parks to sign the five-year Agricultural Lease Agreement with Travaille and Phippen Farms for the property located at Clinton South and Jack Tone Road for use of storing and stockpiling harvested almonds.
  • They could likewise give Parks the go-ahead to sign the First Amendment to the Sidewalk Maintenance Repair Contract with Vaughan Construction for the continued removal and repairing of sidewalk trip hazards, with cost not exceeding $50,000.
  • Elected leaders will look to award the base bid contract for the East Main Street Handicap Ramp Project to Ross F. Carroll, Inc. in the amount of $30,787. The project will be funded through the Streets & Road Operating Fund.
  • A public hearing will take place to consider the Development Fee amendment (increase) for the San Joaquin County Multi-Species Habitat Conservation and Open Space Plan for all new development.
  • Staff will present the Water, Sewer and Garbage Utility Rate Analysis – work was recently completed by Municipal Financial Services.
