The City of Ripon and the Hospice of San Joaquin are teaming up this year for the annual Tree Lighting ceremony.

On Monday, Dec. 2, beginning at 6 p.m., the tree located at the Veterans Memorial Wall, 311 First St., will brighten up with symbolic Christmas lights and, at the same time, allow residents to hang up their favorite ornaments.

For the Hospice of San Joaquin, this lighting event offers those in the community a chance to recognize people who have impacted their lives via a memorial or honorary light dedication.

All told, the Hospice of SJ will have eight lighting ceremonies throughout San Joaquin County – the one in Manteca (Doctors Hospital of Manteca, 1205 E. North St.) will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

The Tree Lighting in Ripon will also feature hot chocolate and cookies for those in attendance along with performances by the Ripon High Band and Choir.

The Ripon Chamber of Commerce, in addition, announced that the fourth annual Christmas Light Parade is Thursday, Dec. 12.

“It’s doubled in size,” said Chamber CEO and President Kelly Donohue of the attendance at the parade which will go through downtown, from Main to Norse streets.
