Residents of Ripon’s Area Four – the area south of Highway 99 and east of Vera Avenue – will get the chance tonight to get an update from the Ripon Police Department about what is happening in their area and share their concerns about community issues with the agency.
At 7 p.m. inside of the Emergency Operations Center at the Ripon Police Department – located at 259 N. Wilma Avenue – the community will be welcome to come discuss public safety in each of the city’s four “areas of responsibility” that break the city up into four sections.
The meeting will mark the fourth in a series of forums aimed at building connections between law enforcement and the community and to establish an open pipeline of communication with the public that the Ripon Police Department serves.
While Area Four will be the primary focus of the meeting, residents from the other three sections – Area 1, which covers the area north of Highway 99 and west of N. Ripon Road, Area 2, that covers the area north of Highway 99 and east of N. Ripon Road, and Area 3, that covers the area south of Highway 99 and west of Vera Avenue – are welcome to participate to learn about public safety issues from throughout the community.
The AOR system used by the Ripon Police Department allows the agency to cover the community effectively by assigning officers to the different areas for their patrol beats. By sharing Google maps of the community that show a variety of crimes as they occur, the agency can help inform the public about the clustering of certain crimes so that residents of the individual areas can remain vigilant and protect themselves from becoming victims.
