After spending the past 12 years on Ripon Unified school board, Ernie Tyhurst is bidding adieu.

He mentioned his intention of not seeking another term at Monday's meeting.

"We've seen some highs and we've seen some low and lows," Tyhurst said in summarizing those years that included making some tough decisions during the Recession of 10 years ago.

He represents Trustee Area 2. Anyone seeking Tyhurst's seat must be from that area (log on to www.riponusd.net for Trustee Area map).

"We were previously at-large voting when I ran (four years ago), said board President Chad Huskey, who announced that he'll seek a second term.

Ditto that for Trustee Kit Oase, who represents Area 3.

Huskey is in Area 1.

A candidates’ information meeting is planned for Thursday, June 28, at the Ripon Memorial Library, beginning at 6 p.m.

Those interested in becoming a school board member is encouraged to attend.

"I wish all the best on anyone and everyone who's running (in the Nov. 6 election," Tyhurst said.
