RUSD trustees honor student board member
trurstees honor
Lydia Waters (second from left) was recognized Monday by the Ripon Unified officials for her service of the past year as student school board member. She’s joined by Trustee Vince Hobbs, Trustee Christina Orlando, board Vice President Chad Huskey and board President Kit Oase.

For the past school year, Lydia Waters was an active participant at the Ripon Unified school board meetings.

She was tasked with providing monthly updates at the various school sites throughout the district – her presentations, for example, consisted of the latest happenings at Ripon High, Ripon Elementary, Ripona Elementary, Colony Oak, Park View, Weston and Harvest High.

Waters, a RHS senior, had a vote that counted – that’s not counting personnel matters – when it came to the issues affecting RUSD.

The retiring student school board member was recognized last Monday by her board colleagues for her services for the 2021-2022 school year.

In this case, Waters will be graduating in the coming weeks.

She’s the daughter of Shelly and Kirk Waters. The latter retired several years ago as fire chief of the Manteca Fire Department.

Lydia Waters followed three of her siblings in serving as a RUSD student school board member. Included were her two sister, Ruth and Ellie, and brother Dallas.
