Sam’s Club has opened one of the largest fueling stations in the South County.

The pumps started operating Friday at the new facility at 16150 Golden Valley Parkway in Lathrop.

The membership only facility has 28 fueling stations.

The actual Sam’s Club Warehouse will open in the coming months.

The 165,000 square-foot store will include a food court as well as vehicle services such as tires.

By comparison, the existing Manteca Walmart on South Main at the 120 Bypass has 110,000 square feet.

The new Manteca Super Walmart being planned on the northwest corner of South Main Street and Atherton Drive anchoring a retail complex with up to 11 other concerns will be 181,000 square feet.

The Manteca Costco on Daniels Street — a membership warehouse like Sam’s Club — has 145,000 square feet.

The Lathrop location will be the first Sam’s Club in the Northern San Joaquin Valley that includes San Joaquin, Stansilaus, and Merced counties.

As part of the events marking the opening of the gas pumps, Sam’s Club is offering savings on new memberships. New members can take advantage of a limited-time membership offer. Those who join through Sept. 30 can receive a year-long Sam’s Club Plus membership for $50 (a $70 savings) or a year-long Club membership for $20 (a $40 savings).

Additionally, members who open a Sam’s Club credit card account through Sept. 30 will receive a $30 statement credit and earn 10% back on fuel purchases made with their new account for 30 days from the date the account was opened.

The fueling station is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
