Eighth graders in the Ripon Unified School District are currently gearing up for their promotion ceremonies.

Some of the incoming Ripon High freshmen can get an early jump on math with a three-week course offered during the summer.

This is part of this year’s summer school program at RHS, scheduled from June 1 through June 29.

Director of Curriculum and Categorical Programs Kathy Coleman noted at the April 11 school board meeting that RHS summer school can help students in need of credits or repeating a class in order to graduate to do just that.

Among the classes offered are Gradpoint (credit recovery), Health and 2-3 English sections.

Victor Ramirez will serve as principal for the summer school. He’s the vice principal at RHS.

Ripona Elementary School will host “Summer Safari,” from June 1 through June 29.

That’s the name of summer program for younger students.

Ripona Principal Nate Baroni will also serve as “Summer Safari” principal.

Coleman mention that Music Camp for beginning and immediate music students along with a drum line program was recently added.

Music Camp is one of the four basic “Summer Safari” programs.

The others are Spanish Language, English and Extended School Year.

In addition, the RUSD summer programs will feature assemblies and guest speakers.
