Two people are behind bars after a shooting last month at the Fireside Inn on West Lathrop Road left a 32-year-old Lathrop resident suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
According to the Lathrop Police Department, the incident occurred at around 11:20 p.m. on April 23rd when patrol officers in the vicinity were flagged down by citizens and notified that a shooting had just occurred inside of the bar. Several additional 911 calls came in, and additional officers responded to the scene – finding the victim inside of the bar suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officers on scene provided medical care until the Lathrop Manteca Fire District and Manteca District Ambulance arrived on scene to render aid. The victim was transported to an area hospital suffering with non-life-threatening wounds.
A second victim, according to the statement from police, was also located inside of the bar and officers were able to determine that the suspect had pointed the firearm at that person as well.
The case was headed up by Lathrop Police Detectives who were able to learn the identity of the suspect and officers secured an arrest warrant to take him into custody.
Earlier this week, officers from the Lathrop Police served a search warrant at a trailer park in Lodi and were told by a female at the residence that the male suspect was not present. Officers searched the trailer anyway and found the male suspect – whose name is not being released because the investigation is still ongoing – hiding inside.
A stolen firearm was also located inside of the trailer.
The male suspect was taken into custody without incident and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on two counts of attempted murder and possession of stolen property. The female at the house was also arrested and booked for being an accessory to a crime.
The motive behind the shooting last month is still being determined, and officers are asking any witnesses that were present at the Fireside Inn for the April 23 shooting or have any knowledge of what transpired to contact Detective Valdivia and 209.647.6407.
