WINE BAR ON WAY
Enhancing downtown Ripon’s draw
Wine Bar
From left, Merissa Deming and Kara Bogetti of downtown Ripon’s first-ever wine bar The Vault displays the two imported wine emulsion machines.
The Vault is currently under wraps – at least for another month.
That’s the newest business endeavor of Kara Bogetti and Merissa Deming of Ripon. They decided not too long ago to open the first-ever wine bar in the downtown.
Located at 111 E. Main St. – nestled nicely between Las Consuelas, A Matter of Taste, and Ripon Road House – The Vault is looking to compliment the neighboring businesses. It would essentially make the 100 block of East Main a dining and gathering destination..
“We were looking to open up a business,” said Deming, who mentioned a variety of ideas in recent years including a yogurt shop.
Added Bogetti: “When this location became available we knew it would be an ideal place for a wine bar,” she said.
Bogetti and Deming are sisters. They grew up in Modesto but proudly call Ripon their home.
Neither have any previous experience in operating a wine bar. However, they do have a passion for vino not to mention plenty of business know-how.
Bogetti is a local Realtor and her husband, Jon, a contractor, is the owner of Bogetti Construction Inc. Deming is a newlywed.
Altogether, they’re a team working to get The Vault ready for its grand opening – both are hopeful of opening the door to the public by mid-July.
Kara Bogetti described the décor as “industrial chic.” She doesn’t want to unveil too much about the interior until The Vault’s big opening.
The actual custom-made bar extends through good length of the 1,000 square foot space that was once a clothing and apparel store. From behind the bar are two imported wine emulsions from Italy designed to preserve the freshness of an open bottle twice as long while featuring a set pouring options per glass.
Tables near the windows along the perimeter of the bar are also in the plans.
“We want to make this place where people know each other. Like (the TV show) ‘Cheers,’” said Deming.
The Vault will feature a variety of wines. Some such as McManis (Ripon), Lucca (Ripon), Gallo (Modesto), Delicato (Manteca) and Macchia (Lodi), to name a few, that are local.
Other featured wines will come from regions such as Napa, Sonoma, Healdsburg, Murphys, and Plymouth.
The Vault will feature craft beers as well.
Since the wine bar doesn’t have a kitchen, Bogetti said that snack boxes from A Matter of Taste could be made available.
Live music – most likely, an acoustic guitar performer – is also in the plans.
Bogetti and Deming received the green light not too long ago to start the business from the Ripon Planning Commission.
Since then, it’s been a nonstop labor of love for those involved with the new wine bar.
Once open, The Vault’s business hours are planned for 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
The place will be closed on Mondays.
