McGehee judged sane for mothers murder

Dawson McGehee, 27, of Manteca was found to have been sane by a Superior Court Jury at the time he murdered his mother in the family home on Halloween night in 2011.

The second degree murder conviction handed down within the last three weeks will now stand. His actual sentencing scheduled for the last week in January. He faces a minimum of 15 years to life in state prison.  One year will be added for his use of a weapon.

When McGehee made his first appearance in the Stockton courthouse after being charged with the murder, his sanity was in question based on the way he was acting, fidgeting and turning his head from side to side in an aloof stance.

That, however, was believed to have been an act by authorities.

Judge William Johnson has presided over the court sessions.
