Birds in garden topic of Feb. 15 library gathering
The Manteca Garden Club will meet Monday, Feb. 15, at 12:30 p.m. in the McFall Room of the Manteca Public Library.

The McFall Room is located on Center Street directly behind the library.

The guest speaker this month is Harry Dedini, past district director of the Valley Lode District of the California Garden Clubs.

Dedini, a rosarian, is a Master Gardener. He’s also very knowledgeable in many areas of gardening and horticulture.

He will speak on “Birds in your garden,” and will discuss how to attract, feed, and the benefits of birds in the garden.

The public is welcome to attend the Manteca Garden Club function.

The group is also gearing up for the Spring Garden Tour planned for the Saturday, May 8, prior to Mother’s Day.

The event will be the main fund raiser of the year, with proceeds going to civic beautification and scholarships for students attending the Manteca schools.

Manteca Morning Rotary crab feed set for Feb. 27
The Manteca Morning Rotary’s annual Harry Van Rys Crab Feed takes place Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane.

The no host bar opens at 5:30 p.m. followed by a full served dinner complete with wine on the table at 6:30 p.m. Music and dancing follows at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $35 each.

More than $35,000 in scholarships have been awarded to local high school students since 2001.
