RIPON – Ripon Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring “Meet the Candidates Night” for the City Council Candidates on Thursday, Oct. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 259 N. Wilma Ave.
The candidates are incumbents Dean Uecker and Chuck Winn, and their challengers Carolyn Jensen and Dan Prince.
Dennis Wyatt, managing editor of the Manteca Bulletin, will serve as moderator for the meeting.
The chamber is discouraging any questions from the floor. Interested Ripon citizens are asked to fax their questions to the chamber office at 1-888-556-4944 by Monday, Oct. 4, no later than 4 p.m.
Questions from the floor will only be taken at the end of the meeting if time permits.
Each candidate will have a two-minute opening speech and a one-minute closing rebuttal.
“Meet the Candidates” Night is open to the public and everyone is invited.
The terms of Uecker and Winn are ending in December. Winn is currently the city’s mayor. The mayor’s position is not elected but is appointed by the members of the council.
