The Ripon Community National Day of Prayer Event takes place on Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m., at First Christian Reformed Church located at 305 Boesch Drive, Ripon.

The men’s choral group, Voices for the King, will once again join the observance and provide music ministry throughout the service.  Childcare for infants and toddlers will be available and refreshments will be provided following the service which will conclude by 8:15 p.m.

“Pray for America” is the theme for our nation’s 62nd annual observance of the National Day of Prayer.

The theme is based on the Bible verse in Matthew 12:21 which states, “In His name the nations will put their hope.”

Back in 2006, the First Christian Reformed Church in Ripon began hosting what has now become an annual tradition of bringing community leaders, pastors and citizens together in a united front of prayer for the city, state and nation.  Representatives from City Hall, the Police and Fire Departments, and our Schools will be in attendance to speak about the concerns of our community.  Local pastors will lead in prayer for each area of representation and also for our area businesses and agriculture, and the state and nation.

The National Day of Prayer Task Force states: “The National Day of Prayer has great significance for us as a nation as it enables us to recall and to teach the way in which our founding fathers sought the wisdom of God when faced with critical decisions. It stands as a call for us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people. Mrs. Shirley Dobson, NDP chairman, reminds us: ‘We have lost many of our freedoms in America because we have been asleep. I feel if we do not become involved and support the annual National Day of Prayer, we could end up forfeiting this freedom, too.’”

Observances for National Day of Prayer will be held from coast to coast on May 2 and millions will be joining together to pray with conviction that God would continue to shed His grace and mercy on our country.
