Navid Fardanesh enjoyed his time on the Ripon Planning Commission.

At last week’s Ripon City Council meeting, he was recognized for his years of service with a proclamation.

“It was a wonderful learning experience,” said Fardanesh, who recently stepped down after his appointment to the commission in 2009.

Having once served on the Planning Commission, Mayor Chuck Winn understands what the job entails.

“You’re approving building and construction projects in the city, and that can be a thankless job,” he said. “So I appreciated (Fardanesh’s) service – he will be missed.”

Fardanesh was honored for “his service (that) was marked by exemplary and energetic participation” on the Planning Commission, according to the proclamation.

He was also praised for generously giving of his time and effort on behalf of the community.

In turn, Fardanesh, who is a dentist in Ripon, acknowledged Planning Director Ken Zuidervaart and Mitzi Johnston, who is the commission’s secretary, for their support during the years.
