Ice cream social marks Comptons retirement as Ripon city manager

An ice cream social on Friday, April 12, from noon to 3 p.m. marks Leon Compton’s retirement as Ripon’s city manager.

Kevin Werner will also be introduced as the city’s new administrator at that time.

The social takes place at Stouffer Hall at Mavis Stouffer Park.

Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP to Jeanne Hall at jhall@cityofripon.org by April 8.

Compton has worked for the city for 27 years.

Among the major projects he has been involved with were the senior center, 1988; the community center expansion, 1986; Clarence Smit Museum, 1988, the new city hall, 1990; Department of Justice Crime Lab, 1995; Main Street rehab, 1995; community center remodel, 1996; Mistlin Fountain at Oak Avenue, 1997; Curt Pernice Skate Park, 1999; Ripon’s elevated water tower, 2000; Mistlin Sports Park began, 2000; swimming pool, 2001; Jack Tone interchange, 2001; Mistlin elevated water tower, 2004; CNG fueling station, 2005; city hall expansion, 2006; new Ripon Memorial Library, 2006; Class 2 Bikeway, 2007; and Main Street rehab, 2010.
