PIT BULL KILLS WOMAN IN YARD OF STOCKTON HOME: STOCKTON  (AP) — A 38-year-old woman in Stockton has become the latest person to be mauled to death by a pit bull.

Det. Dave Konecny of the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department said Friday that the woman was killed on Thursday night in the front yard of the home where the pit bull lived and that she was not the dog's owner.

The victim's name has not been released because her relatives have not been notified.

County animal control officers are holding the dog pending an investigation.

Neighbors said they were not surprised by the attack because the pit bull had jumped its fence and attacked people before.

MAN SURVIVES CLOSE RANGE SHOOTING IN STOCKTON: STOCKTON - A Stockton man is lucky to be alive Friday morning after another man shot at him during an argument Thursday night.

The man told Stockton Police he arrived at his home on the 1900 block of Comstock Drive around 7 p.m. when he was confronted by an Asian man in his late 40s to early 50s.

Lieutenant Josh Doberneck of the Stockton Police Dept. said the two men then got into an argument, during which time the Asian man withdrew a gun and fired, grazing the victim's forehead.

The suspected shooter then fled the scene in a blue or silver 1991-1994 GMC van, with an unknown license plate.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene and transported the gunshot victim to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The shooter was described as Asian man by the name of Rudy who had a a shaved head with long pony tail in the back. He was approximately 48 to 50 years old with a grey beard and mustache

 

STOCKTON POLICE LOOKING FOR PEEPING TOM: STOCKTON - Security cameras caught a man looking into the bedroom window of an underage girl around 6 a.m. on Friday morning.

According to the Stockton Police Department, the man was cruising the neighborhood near March Lane and Holman Road on a mountain bike when he stopped to peak in the window of a young girl. Surveillance video shows him crouched behind bushes in the front yard.

The prowler appears to be a bald, adult male, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a black puffy jacket, jeans and tennis shoes. He got away on his mountain bike.

THIEF KNOCKS DOWN MOM, BABY FOR JEWELRY: STOCKTON - A mother walking her 7-month-old child was pushed to the ground by a thief who was after her jewelry.

Thursday evening, the woman was walking in a neighborhood south of Stockton, off Henry Long Boulevard with her child in a stroller.

A man was sitting down nearby, and as she passed, the man knocked her and the stroller over.

The man, who investigators say was most likely a teen, grabbed the woman’s gold chain necklace and took off running.

Investigators do not have a good description of the suspect at this time. It sounds like the woman and her child are OK.
