STOCKTON — The Stockton Chorale will be performing choral masterpieces that span three continents and three centuries of music, continuing a tradition of performing choral works that are both classics as well as newer musical experiences.
The concert performance will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at St. John’s Anglican Church, 316 North El Dorado St.
From a rarely heard work by Felix Mendelssohn to a motet by J.S. Bach, the Stockton Master Chorale will surprise and delight you. Songs from Argentina and Hungary will fit well alongside the Master Chorale’s wonderful presentation of Irving Berlin’s “Cheek to Cheek” and Halsey Stevens’ Southern California song “Go, Lovely Rose”. This will be a concert that showcases the talents of the Stockton Master Chorale and whisks you across continents and centuries.
The ever popular Youth Chorale will join this concert by continuing the world tour with an Israeli folk song, “Hashivenu”, a Duet from “Gloria” by Vivaldi, a wonderful work by John Rutter “I will Sing with the Spirit” and the prayer from “Hansel and Gretel” by Engelbert Humperdinck.
Bring your family to this delightful spring concert — children are particularly invited -- for a diverse program that will charm, uplift and engage listeners of all ages. Let us touch you with the beauty of song and open your heart with the joy of music in this concert by the Master Chorale, under Artistic Director Magen Solomon and the Youth Chorale, under the direction of Joan Calonico. Could there be a more pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon?
