Bernice Azevedo, 82, entered into rest on December 26, 2010 in Manteca, California. She was born on July 4, 1928 in Everton, Missouri.  In heaven she joins her parents, one sister and two brothers and both of her late husbands Victor C. Machado and Alfred Azevedo.

Bernice is survived by her two sons John V. Machado and wife Renee of Manteca and David V. Machado and wife Linda of Alaska. She was blessed with five grandchildren; John Machado Jr., Lynn Machado Matthews, Daniel Machado, Dennis Machado, and Douglas Machado and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition she has two surviving siblings; Thomas Jones of Fairplay and Mearl Jones of Modesto.

Bernice worked for the Manteca Unified School District for over 17 years as a bus driver. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Manteca. She enjoyed gardening and fishing and hunting with her husband and boys. She loved going on day trips to Santa Cruz to eat clam chowder. Most of all Bernice enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren; the world would stop when she was with them. She loved each and every one of them as if they were her one and only. Her love for her family was described as “fearlessly” she had all the confidence in the world in them with their goals, dreams and ambitions. She loved them unconditionally. Bernice will be remembered for her giving heart and her loving and kind spirit. She will be missed.

Bernice’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 from 1 to 5 p.m. held at P.L. Fry 290 N. Union Road, Manteca, Ca. A graveside service will be held on Thursday Dec. 30, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery 17871 S. Carrolton Road, Escalon, Ca.
