Charles J. Alfaro, 71, entered into rest July 2, 2009 at his residence in Manteca surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on July 23, 1937 in Glendale, California. He joins his daughter in heaven Angelina Higareda as well as his two siblings; Hector Alfaro and Rachel Alfaro.  

Mr. Alfaro is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Anna M. Alfaro of Manteca. His children are Cherie Carr of Benicia, Joe Alfaro of Vallejo, Marta Ponsiano of Manteca, and Ana Herrera of San Jose. He was was blessed by 16 grandchildren; Stephen, Matthew, Jo Jo, Alyshia, Angelina, Tinamarie, Albert, Breann, Junior, Annamarie, Victor, Marta, Freddie, Mia, Michaela, and Mark Anthony. In addition he has 11 great-grandchildren.  

Charles was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired after 48 years as a Sanitary Engineer at Waste Management – San Jose. Charles and his wife moved to Manteca in 2006 after making their home in San Jose for over 39 years. Charles loved family get-togethers. Great friends, family members and of course a 12 pack of beer were always welcome in his home. His 1939 Chevy, better known as “His Girlfriend” was his pride and joy. He commonly bragged on his wife or as he called her “Sunshine’s homemade flour tortillas and wonderful authentic recipes.” Charles’ favorite quote was “Good Living” he used this quote every time he ate an amazing meal.  He will be remembered as a devoted husband, wonderful father, and a very special grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be terribly missed.  

Mr. Alfaro’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A memorial prayer service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at 1 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N.
