Emma Sauer Rieb was born on August 11, 1921 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Louie and Katherine Sauer, and passed away on April 22, 2012 at the age of 90.She was the youngest of 10 children. Emma was raised in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She married Conrad Rieb on December 18, 1938, and was happily married to him for 45 years until his death on August 28, 1984.

She enjoyed playing the piano, teaching herself to play “by ear”.Before she became ill, her joy was working in the garden, her daily devotions, and weekly Bible study class. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Lutheran church and the sewing and craft circle.

She will be deeply missed by her nine children; Leonard and Kenneth of Manteca, Loretta and Wayne of Modesto, Loren of Boise, Idaho, Phillip, Joann, Timothy and Roger of Modesto. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Franklin & Downs Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 12:30pm followed by a church service at 1:30pm both being held at Grace Lutheran Church, 617 W. Orangeburg, Modesto. Her final resting place will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
