Born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, Gertrude “Trudy” Bodeson moved to Ripon, California, in 1947 to assist her sister, Hilda Feller in caring for their mother who had cancer.

She married Francis E. Bodeson on Oct. 1, 1948.  They were married for 62 years, during which Trudy bore six children who were the love of her life.  Trudy worked for the Ripon Post Office for 30 years before retiring.  She was an active member of the First Congregational Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Ripon Garden Club, Rebekahs, Bridge Club, PTA, Friends of the Library, and the Ripon Swiss Club.

Trudy loved camping on the coast, in the Sierras, spending winters in Palm Springs, and doing crossword puzzles.  She and her husband, “Bud”, traveled to all 50 states, 36 foreign countries, and took numerous cruises.  In the spring of 2004, Trudy had a massive stroke and was moved to Bethany Home, where she was cared for until she died.  Her final days were spent surrounded by family.

Trudy is survived by her six children: Janyce Bodeson of Santa Rosa, Mary Bodeson of Ripon, Jim Bodeson of Ripon, Deborah (Bodeson) Glass of Laguna Beach, Patricia (Bodeson) Hansen of Ripon, Bob Bodeson of Ripon, 14 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m.  The family will be receiving guests at the Bodeson home on Elm Ave. after the service.   There is an online guestbook available at www.deeganfuneralchapels.com
