James Jimmy Harris

James “Jimmy” Harris, 72, entered into rest on June 28, 2009 in Ripon, California. He was born on November 25, 1936 in Jackson, Ohio, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Buel & Velva Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ted Harris.

Mr. Harris is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Janice Harris of Ripon and his children: Michael Harris of Louisiana, Pennie Stevenson and husband Edward of Manteca, Christopher Harris and wife Lisa of Manteca, and Todd Harris and wife Michelle of Ripon. He was blessed by 12 grandchildren; James, Joseph, Samantha, Cody, Whitney, Katherine, Christopher, Nolan, Macey, Sarah, Alyssa, and Emily. In addition, he had 3 surviving siblings; Danny Harris of Modesto, Judy Harvey of Manteca and Daphne Johnsen of Indiana.     

Since 1997 Jimmy was a resident of Ripon and previously of Manteca from 1971-1997. Jimmy was a businessman; he owned and operated Madison Mobile Home Sales in Manteca for over 37 years. He was the former owner of Jimmy’s restaurant and the Farmers Table, both in Manteca. He was a member of the Manteca Moose Lodge and CMHI, MHI; both mobile-home organizations. He enjoyed singing and playing many different instruments. He was a very talented man, which was shown through his music.

In his younger years Jimmy was very involved with the local Little League games and the Manteca Cowboys pop-warner youth football. He spent countless Saturday’s filming each and every football game and in turn opening his home to the entire football team and coaches to view the videos of the week’s game. Jimmy was extremely humble and generous; he was a hard worker and loving to his entire family. He will be missed.  

Mr. Harris’ arrangements will be handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be held Wednesday July 1st, 2009 at 1-5 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 2, at 1 p.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at East Union Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society   207 E. Alpine Ave. Stockton, CA
