James R. Mann, 79, died March 25, 2009, in Manteca.

He was born May 21, 1929 in Brookings, South Dakota. Jim was a 21-year Manteca resident. Prior to that Jim lived in Discovery Bay for 10 years.

Jim is survived by his wife Jan Mann of 28 years; and children (Son) & Margaret Mann of Livermore; Debbie (Step-Daughter) & Jim Connelly of Dayton, OR; Laurene Mann (Daughter-in-law) of Livermore. He was preceded in death by son Jimmy Mann in 2003.

He is also survived by grandchildren Derek (Grandson) & Stacee Connelly of Kennewick, WA; Nichole (Granddaughter) Connelly of Portland, OR; and Shawndel (Granddaughter) & Austen Mann (Grandson) of Livermore; and great grandchild Mykah Connelly of Kennewick, WA.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Jim worked at Livermore National Lab for 32 years.  Jim loved the water and was a great water skier.  Jim & Jan enjoyed traveling in their motor home and traveled to Arizona where Jim enjoyed playing pool with all his buddies.  Hel also played pool at the Manteca Senior Recreation Center.  He belonged to the Livermore SIRS, Tracy Elks and the Livermore Veterans of Foreign War.

Arrangements are under the direction of P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca.

Memorial services are Friday April 3, at 1 p.m. at United Lutheran Church 649 Northgate Drive, Manteca.
