Jim McCreath, 71, of Ripon passed away Jan. 16, 2009.

He was born July 9, 1937 in Junction City, Kansas .

Jim was a resident of Ripon for the past five years. Previously, he had lived in Manteca for 28 years.

He is survived by his wife Burnetta McCreath. They were married for 47 years. He is also survived by his children Brian McCreath and wife, Anna, Nampa, ID, Doug McCreath and wife, Susie, Ripon, Kim Morenzone and husband, Mike, Ripon, and Greg McCreath and wife, Samantha, Tracy; siblings Gene McCreath and wife, Rosemarie, White City, Kansas, and Karen Pio and husband, Steve,  Allen, Kansas; and grandchildren Lauren McCreath, Andresa McCreath, Jake McCreath, Josh McCreath, Scott Morenzone, Samantha McCreath, Madison McCreath, Kaitlyn Morenzone, and Aiden James McCreath.

Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired in 1995 after 34 years as a plant superintendent for Safeway Processing in Stockton.

Jim was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church serving as a member of the Parish Council.  He was past president of East Union and Manteca Athletic Boosters.  He was a member of the East Union “Chain Gang” for many years.  He was a member of the Ripon Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) with the Ripon Police Department.  He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, boating, camping and all sporting events.

Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 E. North Street. A Vigil is Thursday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian burial is Friday, Jan. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. The final resting place is Park View Cemetery, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church/School Fund, 505 E. North Street, Manteca, CA 95336.
