John Joseph Kunis was born in Chicago, Il., the son of Joseph and Catherine Kunis. He is preceded in death by his two brothers and two sisters.
A World War II veteran, John was a hard-working, loving family man, with a great love for his church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mildred Lichner Kunis, and 12 children, Deborah (Don) Grabowski, Kathleen (Clark) Semple, Nancy Kunis -Himan, Mary Frances Kunis, John A. (Cheryl) Kunis, Kimberly Kunis-Havins, Michael A. Kunis, Thomas (Kim) Kunis, James J. (Veronica) Kunis, Christopher G. (Diane) Kunis, Scott C. (Christine) Kunis, Todd A. (Amy) Kunis. He was “Grandpa” of 34 and “Great-Grandpa” of 9.
When time permitted, he enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and football and his favorite, playing slot machines at the casino. He enjoyed good natured bantering amongst his friends, whom he cherished.
Services for John will be at St. Frances Cabrini Church, on June 24, viewing from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by Mass. Burial will be private after cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Research or Hospice of San Diego. Local arrangements by Darling Fischer Chapel of the Hills.
