Johnnie Salas, 96, entered into rest on July 24, 2019 in Manteca, CA. He was born to Immigrant parents on June 24, 1923 in Mt. Shasta. As a young boy he settled in Tracy.
   He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Annie and daughter Doris and son Edward, parents Manuel and Santos Salas, siblings, Jose, Jesse, Mike, Beatrice, Mary, Louis  and Jenny.
   Mr. Salas’s is survived by his children, Johnnie Salas Jr. (wife Yong), Mary Godoy(husband Juan) and Lily Salas. He was blessed by seven grandchildren, Michele, Eileen,Tina, John III, Joe, Juan, Anthony, and eight great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jax, Juan, Julissa, Marcella, Michaela, Rayden , Spencer.
   Johnnie was a  WWII Veteran and part of the Normandy Invasion in 1943 proudly serving his country in the United States Army. He retired from civil service after 47 years as a supervisor at Tracy Defense Depot. He loved his trips to Jackson, Black Oak and Reno. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Johnnie will be remembered for his quick wit his spontaneous character and his unconditional love for family. He will be deeply missed.
   P.L. Fry & Son is honored to be serving the family. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 31, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a rosary/vigil at 7 p.m. held at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, CA. Mass will be on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 525 E. North St., Manteca, CA. He will be laid to rest at Tracy Public Cemetery.
