Jose “Jose Paz” Toste Coelho, 80, of Manteca, died May 18, 2009 in Manteca Care and Rehab in Manteca. He was born Feb. 16, 1929 in Sao Sebastiao Terceira, Azores.

A mass is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 19399 E. Highway 120, Escalon. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Escalon. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel from 2 to 8 p.m., May 26, 2009 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 27.

He was a diary milker for six years and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Escalon, Luso American Fraternal Society. He lived in Manteca for 30 years. He enjoyed wood working and being with his family.

Jose is survived by his wife, Maria da Conceicao Coelho of Manteca; 5 sons, Jose Coelho of Manteca, Luciano Coelho and wife Iria of San Jose, Marcelino Coelho of Manteca, Luis Coelho and wife Olga of Oakdale and Frank Coelho and wife Tammy of Oakdale; brothers, Francisco Paz Coelho of Azores and Joao Toste Coelho of Brasil; sisters, Maria da Conceicao of Azores and Arminda Lourenco of Azores; 6 grandchildren, Lisa Coalho, Elizabeth Coelho, Frank Coelho, Lesley Coelho, Jessica Coelho and Kayla Coelho; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins of California, Mass., Terceira and Brasil.
