Joseph David Silva, 88, entered into rest on March 16, 2012 in Ripon California. He was born on October 10, 1923 to the late Manuel and Mary Silva. Heis preceded in death by his parents,10 siblings, as well as his son David Joseph Silva.

Mr.Silva is survived by his wife Doris Silva. He has one daughter, Yvonne Rodrigues (Leonard). He was blessed by five grandchildren, Billy Andreetta (Melanie), Sarah Quaresma (Richard), Sally Andreetta, Matthew Silva, and Martin Silva and six great-grandchildren, Joseph Quaresma, Kynnady Andreetta, Tatum Andreetta, Jillian Quaresma, Sophia Quaresma, and Emily Silva.

Joseph was affectionately known as Joey to family and friends. Joey proudly served his country with the United States Army. He was a dairy farmer for most of his life owning, Silva’s Lazy Acres in Manteca. After 15 years of service Joseph also retired from Sharps Army Depot as a Heavy Equipment Supervisor. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, taking new adventures to many different places throughout the United States. Joey also enjoyed “Sunday Drives” to Half Moon Bay and Monterey. He loved social events such as Festas, live auctions, classic cars and watching “spin the wheel” and Jeopardy in the evenings with the family. Joey always had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He always aimed to please them. He looked forward to lovingly teasing his grandchildren playing practical jokes on them often just to get a laugh followed by a big smile. Joey’s dog Dolly was like his second daughter to him, she was his true companion always at his side. Joey will be remembered as a loving man with a heart of gold. He will be missed.

The Silvas would like to thank the outstanding staff at Bethany Home in Ripon, for their love and care that they gave to Joey during this most difficult time.

A visitation will be held on Thursday March 22, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Rosary/Mass will be held on Friday March 23, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 525 E. North St., Manteca. He will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S. Carrolton Rd., Escalon, CA. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Bethany Home 930 W.
