June Nelson (AKA Mom & Granny to so many) passed peacefully into her eternal home on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 1:58 a.m. surrounded by all her children at her home in Manteca. June was two days short of her 92nd birthday.

June was born Elsie Raymund Baldwin in Minot, North Dakota, on March 24, 1917. She was adopted and her name changed to June Rae Dahlquist. At 18, June was married to Fred M. Nelson, they were married 66 years! She moved to Seattle, Washington, with Fred and worked at Boeing. June and Fred moved to Medford, Oregon, in 1948. June lived in Medford for 53 years. June partnered with her husband and in-laws, John and Pearl, in their company Nelson’s Construction. June also ran a home day care for 20 years. She was a Sunday School Teacher for many years at 1st Assembly of God.

June enjoyed camping, ocean trips and any kind of travel.

Mom has gone to heaven to be with Jesus, her husband Fred and her two children, Connie Rae and Freddy, as well as other family members and lots of friends. Mom is survived by her 4 children; Bryan, Randy (Carla), Julie, and Laurie (Sam); her 9 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. For the last 5 years June lived with Laurie and Sam in Manteca. She was Laurie’s constant companion enjoying church, shopping, travel, playing cards, sneaking sweets and she especially enjoyed reading the Bible morning and night! She will be missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life Friday, March 27, at 4 p.m. at Cano Funeral Home, 2164 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Stockton.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Eagle Point National Veterans Cemetery, Oregon

Donations may be made to Christian Worship Center, 786 Button Ave, Manteca Ca 95336. Proceeds go to missionaries in Africa, Philippines and Youth With A Mission, Attention: June Nelson Memorial.
