Mabel Teicheira

Mabel Teicheira, 99 years of age, passed peacefully on January 15, 2019 after a very brief illness.  She was born in Hughson, California on December 12, 1919 to the late John and Anna Baptista.     She had 10 siblings, seven brothers and three sisters. When she was 15 months old she was adopted by her late godparents Manuel and Mary Pimentel. They moved from Hughson to Manteca in 1925. She graduated from Summer Home School and went to Manteca High. In her Junior year she quit school to work in an almond huller for 25 cents an hour. Mabel retired in 1983 after 11 years from Eckert Cold Storage.  She married Tony Teicheira in 1938 and was married for 56 years. Tony passed away in 1994. Her loving daughter Janet Teicheira passed in 2014.  

   Mabel is survived by her son Bob Teicheira (Carolyn), three grandchildren Robert Teicheira (Luneida), Cathy Morelli (Rob), Tonya Nunes (Aurelio) and nine great grandchildren Axel, Taylor, Austin, Branden, Arin, Stacia, Breanna, Abbie and Patrick. Also, her brother Raymond Baptista (Virgie) and sister Maggie Oliveira.  She had many Teicheira and Baptista nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She had many friends and loved to go to breakfast or lunch with them.  She was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, MRPS Life Member, UPEC, SPRSI, SES, UPPEC, LUSO, Manteca Historical Society and the Widow Ladies Birthday Group.  She loved her pet cats, to play bingo, and go to casinos, especially Black Oak.  She loved life and was proud of all her family.  Mabel lived in Manteca until age 94 when she moved to Paramount Court Assisted Living in Turlock to be closer to her immediate family. Special thanks to Paramount Court and Covenant Care Hospice in Turlock.

6:00 p.m. at PL Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road in Manteca. Mass will be on January 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The MRPS 100th Celebration, P.O.
