Merrill Quacinella
June 2, 1931-December 18, 2018

On December 18, 2018  Merriel Quacinella passed away after a short illness.

Her life began on June 2, 1931 in Illinois, the oldest of three children.  The family moved to Modesto where she attended high school and Jr. College.  Her early career began running the print shop at Mt. Sac Jr College, and concluded  as a medical transcriber in Modesto.  Merriel’s many interests included reading, knitting and camping.  She was very involved with several Italian-American community service clubs. She enjoyed spending time with her close circle of friends and was a big fan of both U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the S.F. Giants.

Merriel became the mother to seven children.  Encountered with many lifetime challenges she was able to overcome them.  As the matriarch of the family one of her greatest qualities was her ability to hold us all together through good times and bad.

She was happiest on their ranch in Escalon surrounded by her family at the dinner table.  We will miss her fierce board game competitions that she somehow managed to always win!  We will miss her little brow-lifts and eye-rolls when she disagreed with anything.  And most of all we will miss her keen sense of humor. LIFE IS A PRECIOUS THING!

She is preceded in death by her son Robert Dubil and her husband Salvatore Quacinella. She is survived by her brothers Doug Antoniono and Jim Antoniono and her children Julie Buchanan, Lucy Quacinella, John Dubil, Andrew Quacinella, Frank Quacinella, Cindy Spencer and their loving spouses.

She was blessed with eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Commons at Union Ranch and Vitas Hospice  for the compassionate loving care they provided our mother.

At Merriel’s requests there will be no memorial service.
