A man as big as his heart, Nathaniel Dale “Ben” Bennett was born into his earthly home on May 14, 1951 and entered into his heavenly rest on Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Born to the late John and Margaret Bennett in Lodi, CA, Ben was a humble man of integrity who cherished his family and love of God above all. His strength and unwavering faith in the Lord helped him battle the last 3 1/2 years with prostate cancer.

Alongside our gentle Ben walked Helen, his wife of 34 beautiful years. They met in 1973 at Delta College and started dating in 1974. Knowing right then that they found their eternal partners, Ben proposed 6 weeks later and they were married within six months of their first date. Being adventurous, Ben loved the outdoors from motorcycle riding to camping. He had a great zest for life and they enjoyed outings on their sailboat. In 2003, they took a trip of a lifetime to Alaska.

They had one son, Nathaniel, and a beloved daughter-in-law, Kathryn. Ben was so proud of his son and especially enjoyed their last trip together to a Men’s retreat with their church. He was a loving Papa to Sarah, Laim and Ava Beth.

He was a treasured brother to Jewell Haskins (Arvis). Ben was also a cherished son-in-law to Lois Jordan and the late Raymond Jordan and caring brother-in-law to Mitzi Buechler (Lynn) and Dana Jordan. He was a devoted uncle to Kittrina Gohr (Doug), Sheri Holmes, Carolyn Johnson (Darren), Brenda Sullivan, Kelly Sullivan, Kristin Buechler, and was preceded in death by niece Debbie Niemann.

Often seen enjoying coffee with the ROMEOs, Ben was a quiet man of few words. His love for Men’s Ministries through his church and leadership skills were to be admired. He showed patience and compassion to all who crossed his path and immense courage in times of hardships.
He was loved and will be missed by countless friends and family.

Celebration of a Beautiful Life to be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Crossroads Grace Community Church, 1505 Moffat Blvd., Manteca, CA 95336. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
