Nick Van Dyken

 Nick Van Dyken, surrounded by his family, joined his wife, Nellie with their Lord and Saviour on Sunday, March 24, 2013.  He was born in Montana to Peter L and Margaret Van Dyken on April 20, 1913, the fifth of 10 children.

The family moved to California in 1919.  Beginning work as an electrician, he founded N & S Home Appliance.  He moved into the Ripon Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for 37 years.  He worked hard to establish an ambulance service along with his Fire Chief duties.  He spent many years working with Gideons International.  He enjoyed many hours in Yosemite doing photography, as well as many hours at home doing woodworking.        He was preceded in death by his wife and nine siblings.  He is survived by his children, Peter (Josephine) Van Dyken, Katherine (Mickey) Fernandes, Beatrice (Tony) Fernandes, Dorothy (Bob) Berner, Rod (Vonnie) Van Dyken, as well as 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one  great-great grandchild, sister-in-law, Clarice Van Dyken and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was a  charter member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Ripon. 

Viewing will be at Deegan Ripon on Friday, March 29, 2013, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. 

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 9:30 AM at Ripon Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Immanuel CRC on the corner of 4th and Orange Ave. in Ripon.
