Patrick L. Shannon, 70, entered into rest on June 1, 2009. He was born on May 30, 1939 in Chanute, Kansas, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Rebecca Shannon. He was a resident of Manteca for over 32 years. He is preceded in death by his father Ray Shannon.

Mr. Shannon is survived by his mother Rebecca Shannon of Kansas, his beloved wife of 48 years, Donna Shannon of Manteca; and children Michael Shannon of Folsom, Denise Shannon of Manteca and Samantha Olague and husband John of French Camp. He was blessed by 4 grandchildren; Rochelle Strickland and husband Marcus of Manteca, Jennifer Rose Shannon of Tracy, John Olague IV of French Camp, Vincent Patrick Olague of French Camp and one great-grandchild Gabriel Strickland of Manteca. His siblings are Dorothy Martin of Kansas, and Ruth husband Kas Baracosa of Manteca. Nieces and nephews are Dawn and husband Lee Lichtenwaler, Lori Herrera and husband Carlos, Renee Dixon and husband Jack, Paula Baracosa and spouse Mike Sandoval and James Baracosa and wife Cheryl all of Manteca. In addition Patrick is survived by many other extended family members who love him dearly

Patrick was in the construction business for over 35 years working for Carpenters Union Local 25 in Manteca. He was a member of the Manteca Moose Lodge. Patrick worked his way up in the Moose Lodge from Fellowship to Legion and then to the highest degree of Pilgrim. His Pilgrim degree was the first for the Manteca Moose Lodge. In addition Patrick held several offices in the State Association of the Moose. He was also a member of the Manteca Sunrise Kiwanis where he was very involved with his community. Patrick along with his wife Donna were very involved in the Manteca Chamber of Commerce were they worked countless hours with the San Joaquin County Fair and many other city and county events. Patrick was a family man at heart. He enjoyed the simple things in life, such as watching his grandson’s sporting events, bowling and golfing. He was an avid Raider and NASCAR fan. He had a life-long dream of building his own home from the ground up and it stands today where he and his wife Donna enjoy the company of family and friends. Patrick was a very likeable man who everyone knew as “grandpa.” He will be remembered as devoted loving husband, a wonderful father and a very special grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed.

Mr. Shannon’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son 290 N. Union Road in  Manteca.
