Radames N. Madera, 81, passed away at his home in Modesto with family by his side on February 24, 2017.
   Radames was born in Penuelas, Puerto Rico to Enrique and Luise Madera on April 17, 1935.  He would later move to California where he worked as a farm laborer.  It was here in California, at a Puerto Rican dance, that he met his wife, Doris, in 1958.  He followed Doris to Honolulu, Hawaii where they courted and later married on January 23, 1960.  In the years that followed they would expand their family by three, their sons, Radames Jr. and Harry, and their daughter, Brenda.
In 1976, Radames moved his family back to California where he worked for the Newark Unified School District as a groundskeeper for over 20 years until his retirement in 1997.  Shortly after retiring he and his wife moved to Manteca where they lived for 11 years before making his final move to their residence in Modesto.
   Radames is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris; sons, Radames Jr. (Randy) and his wife Pamela, Harry and his wife Sandra; and daughter Brenda Edwards and her husband Raymond; and
grandchildren Gage Edwards, Brianna Edwards and Nicholas Madera, as well as his great-granddaughter Charlotte Edwards; siblings  Celia Garcia, Enrique Madera, Valois Madera, and Gina Martinez, as well as his many beloved nieces and nephews.
   Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 5th, from 1 to 3 p.m. and will immediately be followed by a rosary service.  Second visitation and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 6th, with Father Delfin Tumaca of St. Frances of  Rome officiating.  Monday’s services will be followed by a procession to the gravesite for burial.  His pallbearers will be Randy Madera, Harry Madera, Raymond Edwards, Gage Edwards, Rick Madera, and Tom Huffman.
   All events and services will take place at Park View Cemetery and Funeral Home on French Camp Road in Manteca.
