Ralph Matney, 63, entered into rest on March 14, 2009 in Manteca, California. He was born on December 7, 1945 to Mr. and Mrs. William and Normalee Matney in Hayward, California. Ralph has been a resident of Manteca (Del-Webb Community) for the past 14 months; he was previously of Antioch, California. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as one brother Richard Matney.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Joanne Matney of Manteca. Their children are Mark Matney and wife Jolene of Iowa, Jeff Koski and wife Laura of Newerk, Michael Matney of Denver, Jennifer Koski-Plant and husband Donovan of Antioch, Jonathan Koski and wife Elvira of Stockton, and Brian Matney and wife Renee of Georgia. He was blessed by 6 grandchildren; Justin Arment, Abby Matney, Aidan Matney, Joelle Koski, Ryan Koski, and Kaitlyn Koski as well as one sister, Linda Willour of Livermore.

Ralph was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1963 to 1967. He retired after 30 years of service from A.C. Transit as a bus driver in the Bay Area. Some of Ralph’s interests included traveling with his wife in their R.V. and traveling to various art and wine festivals. He was an avid frog collector and had over 1,000 different types of frogs in his collection. Ralph was a “social butterfly,” he enjoyed chitchatting with neighbors around the community. Ralph will be remembered as a devoted family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren unconditionally.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. There will be no services at this time as the family is honoring Ralph’s final requests.
