Ruth Carol Callick, 76, Dickinson, died on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Benedictine Living Community, Dickinson. No services will be held at this time.

Ruth Carol Lommel was born September 1, 1949 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of James G. and Nancy Carol (Gustafson) Lommel. She lived in Minnesota from birth to age seven and at that time they moved to Modesto, California. Ruth graduated from Davis High School and went on to Sacramento State College where she studied teaching. It was during her studies at Sacramento State that Ruth met her future husband, Russell. She started a long term sub–contract position which led to a full–time Kindergarten position. Ruth taught for 26 years.

She was a long time resident of the Manteca and Escalon communities in California. Ruth's was was a devout Christian. From a very young age Ruth found a love of writing stories. She wrote 30 full length romance stories and two were self published. Ruth loved puzzles, reading, and any English related games.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Russell, Dickinson; daughter, Keryn (Bradford) Peden, Dickinson; grandson, Joshua Peden, Dickinson; siblings, Tom Lommel, Oakdale, CA, Jean (Jack) Glenn, Kent, WA, Bettie (Paul) Griffith, Modesto, and Bob (Linda) Lommel, Modesto; family friend, Pattie and Tim Goudie; best friend, Tracy Fulfer and children Megan, Lindsey and Matthew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nancy Lommel; niece, Jodi Kay Glenn; and nephew, Kevin Scott Lommel.
