Sierra’s Valley Oak League champion boys and girls track and field teams will be well represented on Saturday at Sacramento City College as they vie for Sac-Joaquin Section Division III banners.
The Timberwolves were joined by rivals East Union and meet host Manteca in the preliminaries Wednesday at Guss Schmiedt Field. The top nine placers — including heat winners on the track — by mark in most events advance to the finals at famed Hughes Stadium. Athletes who finish outside the top nine but meet or surpass at-large marks also move on.
From the divisional finals, the top 10 placers qualify for the SJS Masters Championships.
Sierra’s Anna Dittman is a Masters hopeful in the 3,200-meter run — the top 24 by mark during the five divisional trials make it. She turned in the sixth fastest time in D-III at 11 minutes, 29.92 seconds.
Blama Kamara was the area’s top performer from area schools. He clocked the fastest time in the 400 (48.75) and finished third in the 200 (21.87) with a new personal best. The junior was also part of the second fastest 4x400 relay (3:22.75), which included Anthony Glover, Christian Gonzalez and Kenneth Roach.
Glover was also sixth in the 400 (51.25), while Gonzalez was a heat winner in the 800 with the fifth best overall time (1:59.56).
Like Kamara, Felisa Cruz-Olenhouse advanced to the finals in three events — the 100 (seventh, 12.48), 200 (sixth, 25.87) and 4x100 relay (third, 49.30). Freshman Sofia Montes snuck into the 100 final (ninth, 12.68). She and Cruz-Olenhouse teamed up with sisters Leslie and Diana Reyes for the 4x100.
Khamylle Bollengier improved her 400 time (59.06), which ranks her third for the D-III final heat. She also helped Sierra’s 4x400 relay finish sixth (4:09.12) with Alyssa Rodriguez, Jazmine Calderon Banda and Rachel Chandler.
Mya Everrett is the front runner in the high jump (5 feet, 3 inches) and fourth in the triple jump (34-11).
Other Timberwolves in the finals: Teagan Nazzisi (shot put, third, 51-03), Diego Torres Muniz (shot put (eighth, 44-03), Oluademilade Akinyele (long jump, seventh, 20-11), Tylea Badea (800, fourth, 2:19.26) and Mia Ona (pole vault, seventh, 8-06).
East Union sophomore Gunnar Fay is a three-event finalist and nearly qualified in a fourth, but the Lancers’ 4x100 — which had aspirations for the state meet — did not finish after mishandling the final handoff. Fay is moving on in the 100 (fifth, 10.81), 200 (ninth, 22.96) and high jump (eighth, 5-10).
He won’t be the lone Lancer in the 100. Older brother Jackson Fay rambled to the second-fastest 100 time (10.65), and J.P. Abrew posted the fourth-fastest (10.86).
With three East Union athletes in the running, only Sean Rutter advances in the pole vault with a personal-best mark of 13-00.
Host Manteca had its share of highlights, starting with three-event finalist William Brown. The junior anchored the Buffaloes’ 4x100 (third, 43.09), which included Nikko Juarez, Jayden Harris and Jaylin Harris.
Brown also took second in the 300 hurdles (39.39) and third in the 110 hurdles (14.82), while Jayden Harris was eighth in the 400 (eighth, 51.39).
Raniya Nelson stood out in the throws for Manteca. She landed a big personal record in the discus throw at 143-06, good for the top seed in the finals. She finished fifth in the shot put (36-03).
Susan Joseph will join her in the divisional finals with a ninth-place finish in the pole vault (8-06).

At Riverbank High, Ripon’s Clara Schoolland secured three spots in the finals, topping the high jump field at 5-04, and placing third and fourth, respectively in the 100 (12.59) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (15.81).
Kaiya Kroutil led the Indians’ girls 4x100, which earned the top-seeded time of 50.06. She’s also No. 2 in the 400 (59.66) and fourth in the 26.47.
The 4x800 qualified with the sixth best time (11:10.47). Elena Vandennakker is moving on in the 300 (ninth, 53.03).
