There’s a new sign gracing the façade of the Manteca Boys & Girls Club.
And it is definitely a sign of the times for the non-profit that has been providing a safe and positive place for Manteca youth ages 6 thru 18 since 1982.
Club CEO Sara Young noted it is part of an effort underway that includes new programs and refreshing the clubhouse at 545 W. Alameda St.
The new sign was donated and installed Wednesday by Fusion Sign & Design under the direction of Division Manager Brian Johnson.
It’s part of the refresh that is in progress.
New programming partnerships such as drop-in summer tutoring conducted by Give Every Child a Chance and new programs such as a soccer camp being conducted July 6-10 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. by the Stockton Cougars are in place.
That is on top of core programs built around a gym, game room, computer lab and more.
When it comes to summer, there are two ways to take advantage of the club offerings that can be accessed by Manteca Transit given the club has a dedicated bus stop at its front door.
The first is a youth becoming a member for $60 a year. That accesses all club offerings year round including this summer when the hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
It is a secured drop-in program with structured, but not regimented activities as well as the ability for youth to simply hang out with their peers in a safe environment. The summer program includes free lunch.
There are also sports, art, STEM programming, social recreation, and video games.
Families that need for a more extended “summer camp” can enroll children in the club’s Sunrise Program that runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
It includes free breakfast, lunch and snacks.
Signups are now underway for the program that starts June 1. The cost is $100 per week, per child. There is also a $30 daily rate for those families that need to take advantage of a summer camp program periodically.
The summer programming starts June 1 and runs through July 31.
There are weekly themes with planned events including Game In, Space Week, Outdoor adventure, Sports Week, Animal Week, Water Week, Superhero Week, Adventures Unlimited, and Carnival Week.
