Shannon L. Peters, 88, born in Iowa on August 5, 1922, went to join the angels on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, after a long illness. He was a resident of Manteca for 65 years. A World War II Navy Veteran, and retired from Tracy Defense Depot after 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Velma L. Peters, after 47 years of marriage, and two of his daughters, Brenda S. Gardner and Geneva A. Southern.

He is survived by his sister, Charlotte Hansen of New Jersey; six of his children, Steven L. Peters and Karen L. Lofdahl of Manteca, Sharon L. Lawley of Oakdale, Leila M. Barnec of Lincoln, and Stella L. Warford and May E. Kirby both of Stockton; 20 grandchildren, Robert, Shannon, Lisa, Steve, Christian, Alison, Gene, Leila, Leanne, Lynetta, Deborah, Wayne, Pat, Rhonda, Patricia Gray, Shannon and Jimmy, Carrie, Gail, Cheryl; 28 great-grandchildren, Anthony, Malissa, Sierra, Cody, Zachary, Gracie, Jessica, Lea, Diana, Dooney, William, Rea wee, Carlitos, Nicolas, James A. Glenn, Brandi, Tim, Codie, Audrey, Amber, Amy, Kayelynn, Jessie, Breanna, Brandon, AnJela and Alexis, and great-great-grandchildren Madison, Gabriela, Dylan and Noah from Lincoln, Dylan and Noah from Texas, Faith, Sadie, baby Leila, Isiah, Alex, James, Nevaeh.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
