Our dad, Worth Seabrook Rough, a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, now resides in his permanent home in heaven forever because of our Lord God’s unlimited grace; a grace which resulted in the perfect and efficacious sacrifice of His Son on the cross.
Worth passed into his eternal state Monday, March 30, 2009. Born on June 10, 1918 in southern Indiana to Schuyler and Margery Murphy Rough, he was the next to youngest and had three brothers; Robert, Earl and George and one sister; Ruth. He married Madonna Henrietta Wilson in 1939 and eventually had four children; Mike, Denny (deceased), Donna and Matt.
Our dad served in the United States Army from 1938 to 1939. He also re-enlisted during WWII and served in the United States Army Air Corps in 1944-45. He once successfully landed a plane in a farm field after running low on fuel. God’s hand was in the landing as the field was so small there wasn’t enough room to take off again and they had to dismantle the plane and haul it away on a truck. We are proud of his service to our country.
Worth and his brothers started the Rough Brothers greenhouse company in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1945. He eventually set out on his own and moved to Manteca, California, in 1971 to start the Double A Truss Mfg. Co. and built commercial greenhouses and metal buildings up and down the Pacific coast. At the company’s peak there were 50 employees.
He was a published author, a great salesman, and a wonderful father, grandfather with twelve grandchildren, great-grandfather with twenty seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandfather with 6 great-great-grandchildren. He is survived by his son Mike Rough, his daughter Donna Reed and his son Matt Rough.
Our Dad spent the last twenty seven months with loving and compassionate care from the staff at Pioneer Towers and Pioneer House in Sacramento.
His funeral service is to be held Wednesday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at the Veterans Sacramento Valley National Cemetery at 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, California.
