Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
I’d like to say a few words about why I feel David Cushman would be an asset to the city of Manteca as a councilman. David is a young inspiring politician whose lifelong dream (as long as I have known him) is to become a US president. David has grown up in our city his entire life. He recently graduated from Stanislaus State University with a BA in Political Science. I have known David since he started kindergarten with my daughter at Sequoia School. During the 13 years they were in school together, I watched him succeed in everything he did. He was known for receiving awards for everything from perfect attendance, outstanding citizen, district spelling bee champion and honor roll.
David’s grandparents (and eventually his own parents) owned a local restaurant in Manteca. David was always there at the restaurant as a child either sitting at a table doing homework or helping by waiting on tables. He knows firsthand what it’s like to be a small business owner in this city and the struggles it brings.
I am really happy to see such a smart, educated young adult run for a position on our city council. I think we could really benefit from his point of views. We need new ideas, new perspectives and most of all a new outlook on tackling some of the ongoing issues our city is facing with our dying downtown businesses, the growing homeless issues and the fact that our city’s crime issues are getting worse instead of better. I am no longer proud to say that I live this city. I moved here over 25 years ago because I wanted the small town atmosphere, the home of the famous Manteca Waterslides and to live in a town where I could walk into the local ACE Hardware store and have my purchases carried out to my car for me. I know David wants our town to be a place to be proud of again and he has the desire to work to make it happen.
So, as a 26-year resident and homeowner please, vote for David Cushman for the Manteca city council.
You won’t be disappointed.
