Rina’s Run may have run its course.

But those at the Ripon Community Athletic Foundation are thrilled with the new organizers in charge of the May running events — in the past 10 years, this has been a major fundraiser for the non-profit group that’s handled the planning, constructing, giving and cultivating of the revitalization projects at the Ripon High stadium.

Enter Ripon Manteca Moves Training Team.

This local running group will take charge of Ripon’s Run, featuring a 5K, half marathon, and the quarter marathon in place of the 10K run, taking the baton from what was once Rina’s Run.

RMMTT will be also be doing the training for Ripon’s Run planned for early May, where 50 percent of the proceeds from those runs will go to RCAF.

“It’ll be the same course, same timing company but different organizers (for the run),” said RCAF president Stephanie Hobbs.

RCAF recently announced that it would no longer handle Rina’s Run, which was named in the memory of Brocchini Farms matriarch Rina Brocchini.

“I’m super excited about RMMTT taking over – they’ll take (Ripon’s Run) to the next level,” Hobbs said.

RMMTT, in addition to RCAF, also made recent donations to Friends of the Ripon Memorial Library, Boys & Girls Clubs of Manteca / Lathrop, FIX’D Inc., Friends of the Ripon Dog Park, and Second Harvest Food Bank of San Joaquin & Stanislaus Counties.

Sponsors for the Ripon’s Run are also needed, Hobbs said.
