The Buffaloes bounced back from a pair of Valley Oak League losses with a 5-0 win over East Union Tuesday at Manteca High.

Yassen Aniss was nearly perfect in topping Sean Hilscher 6-0, 6-1, and Alex McAdams was almost as impressive in knocking off Steve Shepherd, 6-2, 6-1.

Marc Leon had to earn his win over Matt Eichsteadt, 4-6, 6-2 (6-2).

In doubles play, Arnie Morales and Alex Barragan swept 6-0, 6-0, while Kyle Morton and Oral Nunis won 6-2, 6-1.

“It was nice to get back on track,” Manteca head coach Frank Fontana said. “We’ll see what happens, there are still some big matches left. (First place) Sonora still has to face Ceres, Oakdale and us.”

Manteca (8-2 Valley Oak League) travels to Weston Ranch Thursday.

Sierra 5, Weston Ranch 0

The Timberwolves battled the blustery conditions in Stockton Tuesday to earn a routine win.

Kevin Rausa won 6-4, 6-2, and Forrest Tolman won 6-1, 6-1.

Doug Marks had to battle for a 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-3), 8-6 tiebreaker win.

“Doug was really strong in coming back,” Sierra head coach Arabella Whitlock said. “I always like travelling to Weston Ranch because they are nice, respectful team. There was respect for each other on both sides of the court.”

Daniel Prieto and Josh Weiland picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win, while Adrian Prieto and John Alan Hewitt won two out of three sets.

The Cougars host Manteca Thursday, while the T’Wolves travel to Sonora.
