Manteca’s Brody Carabello and E.J. Johnson combined for five touchdowns and more than 300 rushing yards Friday night in a 36-28 non-league junior varsity football win over visiting Lincoln at Guss Schmiedt Field.
Carabello (12 carries, 206 yards) scored on runs of 40 and 52 yards with Johnson (11 carries, 107 yards) scoring on runs of 3, 4 and 13 yards.
Isaiah Fountain paced the Buffaloes defense with six tackles, Bode Hiatt added five stops and Isaac Fountain four. Johnson contributed on defense.
Ripon Christian 28, Hilmar 24
Tyler Van Elderen scored three touchdowns in the fourth period to lead the Knights to a come-from-behind road victory to kick off the Trans-Valley League campaign.
Van Elderen (three receptions, 44 yards; four carries, 31 yards) ran for a 3-yard score and pulled in touchdown passes of 17 and 21 yards from Stadtler Postma (11 of 18 passing; 136 yards; 30 rushing yards). Rocky Gonzales added a 9-yard touchdown run, Talen Tameling pulled in five catches for 72 yards and Jack Schaapman contributed to the offense.
Postma mad 10 stops, Noah Costa nine, Brett Van Laar eight, Tameling (fumble recovery) six, Henry Bulthuis (onside kick recovery) five, Charlie Zylstra four and Jack Schaapman (interception (three).
East Union 28, Sierra 0
Max Abrew threw for two touchdowns and ran for one to lead the Lancers to a homecoming thumping of Sierra in Valley Oak Leage play at Dino Cunial Field.
Abrew (40 yards rushing) posted touchdown throws of 10 yards to Urijah Lopez and 25 yards to Elias Lopez (54 yards receiving) with a 5-yard touchdown run. Adrian Sena (97 yards rushing) added a 1-yard touchdown run.
Nathan Bettencourt paced the East Union defense with nine stops. Ryder Tompkins and Jacob Ramirez made four tackles each with three apiece for Rico Ramirez, Darren Ellis, and Austin Lee.
Lathrop 42, Pacheco 13
Noe Gonzales scored three touchdowns for the Spartans who began Western Athletic League play with a road win.
Gonzales (two receptions, 55 yards; two carries, 62 yards) pulled in 25- and 35-yard scoring passes from D.J. Reyno (6 of 7 passing, 135 yards; five carries, 55 yards) and ran for a 49-yard touchdown. Jaylen Santos (10 carries, 147 yards) scored on runs of 15 and 55 yards and Jorge Lopez added a 5-yard touchdown run.
Dario Joseph made seven tackles for Lathrop, Samari Sumpter (fumble recovery) six with four each for Santos (two interceptions) and Jacob Aguilar (fumble recovery) and three for Gonzales.

Lincoln 16, Manteca 8
The Buffaloes did not score until the fourth period Thursday on a 27-yard run by Bryant Lewis 27 yard run.
Lewis (11 carries, 65 yards), Santino Sanchez (17 carries, for 50 yards; reception, 18 yards), Blake Scalise and Eli Velasquez paced the Manteca defense.
Dario Joseph made seven tackles for the Buffaloes, Kyle Acker and Zack Behrbaum four apiece, Jacob Hernandez and Velasquez three apiece while Lewis made an interception. D’Angelo Riego and Jaxon Hetrick contributed on defense.
